Mark Burnett started Burnett’s Wholesale Nursery as a hobby in the late 70's. With a small 20’x60’ greenhouse, he grew hanging baskets, then he sold them at the flea market for extra money on the weekends. Eventually he started getting a small amount of retail customers while working at Reasoner's Nursery.
He began to build a second greenhouse to grow azaleas, and started brokering plants for landscapers and garden centers. He left Reasoner's by the end of the 80’s to pursue his dream of running his own nursery. Slowly but surely and with determination, Mark made his dream come true and accomplished the ownership of one of the most succesful nurseries in Manatee County.
His son Mike joined him in 1995 to help the business continued growth. Still being involved and a very important part of the nursery, Mark retired in 2010. Mike made his vision of expanding possible by adding more greenhouses and a second location, becoming a well known place for landscapers and homeowners even from different cities. Sadly, Mark Burnett passed away on September 29th, 2016.
Today Mike runs the business and is very active at both nurseries, managing the main location in Oneco and the new Palmetto location at Moccasin Wallow Rd.
